Some tix were burning a hole in my Mtgo wallet so I decided to give the Zendikar tires a kick and play in a couple of pre-release events. Since I’m a casual player I was surprised at how well I did and got 4 packs of cards for winnings. Pulled a [c]Goblin Guide[/c] and a [c]Day of Judgement[/c] so at least I walked out with some good cards.
The set is fun overall but I feel that a lot of great commons and uncommon with landfall abilities that make game play really swingy. It wasn’t uncommon to see 8/8+ Baloth Woodcrasher’s or 6/6 [c]Windrider Eel[/c]’s flying into the red zone. Loads of fun if your not the one on the receiving end.
The problem I had with the MTGO pre-release is that afterwards I feel really ripped off. I didn’t pull enough rares to justify my purchases and I without winning an event your probably just throwing away money. After getting a good bang for the buck drafting M10 I’m a little disappointed.
Drafting ZZZ sounds like fun though, as long as I pull I couple of Lotus Cobras I might break even too. ;)

Thanx for the post – I’ve written one about an illustration of a new card “Leatherback Baloth” here : http://bit.ly/5ddss7
Hey great post. I just wanted to let you know that you’re “About Me” link at the bottom of the page is broken. Cheers.
agreed,
I am a casual player as well, and the pre-release was definitely fun, but I didn’t pull any good rares :( so the money spent was mostly wasted. At least getting more of the full art lands are nice :)
